When Frankie left Corsica in 2004, she promised to never return. With such tragic memories, the guilt was too overpowering. But when her daughter Lola is in trouble 20 years later, she has no choice but to face her past.
Yesterday I spent the day at @tealeavesandreads inaugural literary festival and it felt like an honour to be part of something so special.
William and “mostly” Katy had a dream and step by step they have turned that dream into real life - to the huge benefit of authors and readers in Hampshire and beyond. They might be ’thinking outside the box’ but they’re also creating beautiful book boxes like this one. (Thank you!)
@mrsamandaprowse gave a warm and inspiring introduction which set the tone for the rest of the day. I met 10 amazing authors (my TBR pile has grown ALOT!) and lots of passionate volunteers and readers who made me feel very welcome. Thank you also to Katy’s dad for giving me a lift to the station :)

On Saturday night we celebrated @chrisjwareham 50th birthday and what a party it was! AMAZING music from @samwilsonacoustic and lots of friends and teenagers partying HARD!
The party also made me realise how much of my life I put in my books. We know Sam because he gigs in Morzine, we had a toffee vodka luge, and the theme was “a touch of apres ski” so #TheSkiTrip was well represented! Which is cool bc the party also fell on its 1st birthday ππΏπ
And also… this picture is of me with my work mates from my 1998 (yes I’m that old! π±) season in Corsica - including my husband who I met there. And guess where my next book is set?! Coming June 2025 πποΈ
Sucheta and the team at @southfieldslibrary have creating an incredible display for my books - thank you so much!
And while the quantity of the audience may have been small for my talk on #TheNightSheDies the quality was top notch. Lots of interesting discussions on family, forgiveness and flawed characters. Always a pleasure βΊοΈ

This morning Chris and I went for a run, following a similar route to Rachel in #TheNightSheDies and I was genuinely feeling a bit nervous about what I might come across π€¦πΌβοΈπ€·βοΈ
Luckily there were no macabre discoveries but here are a few photos - me on the railway line where things ‘kick off’, me in Chinnor Nature Reserve thinking about how Rachel must have felt, a sign showing The Ridgeway and Icknield Way which both feature in the book, and Chris and I smiling because there were no dead bodies! And also because it’s our wedding anniversary πβ€οΈ

Posted @withregram • @empalmer09 How far would you go to protect your child?

Rachel’s daughter Lucy is being bullied at school, and then one night, everything seems to happen. The next morning, a body is discovered.
Who is it? How did it happen? Who is responsible?
What a page turner, a thriller I devoured at the speed of lightening.
I loved how dark this was and how even the family members were questioning each other. I was continuously trying to work out who was involved, but I never got near. As the story went on, you realise there is a lot more going on, and the puzzle pieces start fitting together.
The ending was brilliant, and I could have never guessed.
Fantastic book @sarahclarkewriter, and thank you @hqstories for sending me a copy!
Blurb:
Bullied at school, Rachel’s teenage daughter Lucy is a shadow of the sweet, happy child she once was. So when Rachel returns home one night to find Lucy gone, she fears the worst.
Have the bullies taken things too far? Has Lucy run away or done something unthinkable? Rachel searches through the night with her husband and Lucy’s older sister, desperate to find her child safe.
The following morning, a body is found in the woods.
But the nightmare is only just beginning.

Today I am starting to write Book 7 π₯³ This is a new adventure for me, a slightly different way of working, and I’m loving the process so far. But the deadlines are super tight so it’s head down, sleeves rolled and let’s get on with it. Wish me luck! βοΈπ

Summer in Morzine is always special but this year I had an extra treat - my very good friend from yesteryear @victoriasupsnz came to visit. Vic lives in New Zealand and I haven’t seen her for 23 years, but it didn’t take us long to pick up where we left off - house mates, party pals, travelling buddies, good friends. And how else to celebrate something special than by dragging her up a 2,100m mountain?!! (Involving a 1,100m climb.)
The first pic shows us battling flies and height fears at the top of #pontderessachaux. Scroll for the mountain we climbed, us having a well earned break half way up, and @chrisjwareham and I dancing with the flies!!
A fantastic hike, amazing views (apparently, I was too scared to look π°) and a fab place to eat breakfast. (And yes, Mika skipped up and down π π)
